The education familes kids receive in western countries is often very good, but sometimes people want to supplement or add to this, and so people sometimes decide to hire people to work in their homes to help with education and study. In addition there are situations where a family needs extra help with childcare, useful for a busy family, as often the parents work many hours. Employees such as childcare will be in the family home as part of their role, so the parents need to have checked as much detailed and personal info about them as possible - because they need to be trustworthy. Some families are not a thorough as they could be, and dont check references when hiring someone for the home, but it really is critical it is done. Of course there are lots of places to find additional info about people available on the internet. If you have a phone number for them run a reverse phone lookup to see if the details are correct.
